The thing with ranger interupts is that a skilled player can rather succesfully avoid any essential interupts of them through LoS hiding and stances. Additionally the ranger can be blinded etc and ranger interupts have a longer "cast time" followed by a flight time, making 0.75 sec cast nearly immposible to interupt while doing stuff like kiting and such. Also the mesmer interupts have high uttility value. Power leak providing a 26 energy drop (renewal that for complete e-denial ^^), power drain excellent e-management etc. Also the mesmer has some additionall tricks up his sleeve for uninteruptable skills, mainly diversion and to a lesser degree blackout.

Just to add, that while both Guilt and Shame are conditional (in x seconds, IF target foe casts a spell...), they both interrupt the qualified spell AND steal energy from foe, doing 2 things at once.

People who say mesmers can't dish out damage are just wrong. The only decision is if you want to kill them, or make them kill themselves (). They're lots of fun, and very versatile. The ability to lay and also remove hexes are huge assets. Combined with necro skills like soul barbs or spiteful spirit, or paired with monk skills to 55 it, you will be set to tear it up.
